About me

I have really enjoyed teaching the Alexander Technique for over 30 years (although the word ‘technique’ does not do it justice !) and remain intrigued by its depth and broad application.

My wide training and experience in human movement and the holistic health field enables me to work in an intuitive and flexible way. Meditation and Qi Gong  both have a close relationship with the more ‘non-doing’, deep listening, more meditative aspects of Alexander which has helped me to fine tune my work. They both bring a focus on the present moment and on a quality of expanded awareness. I have also trained as a cranio-sacral therapist but Alexander is now my primary interest.

I have taught the Alexander Technique in the music department of York University, in Alexander training schools, in holistic health clinics and for various adult education services but now mostly work from home.

Before I trained as an Alexander teacher I worked for the Open University for twelve years tutoring Social Sciences but mainly Art and Environment, a multi-media course exploring basic creative processes and I completed an M.Ed in Art Education in 1981. I am a writer and have been attempting to learn to play the shakuhachi, a traditional Japanese bamboo flute. I have one son and two grandchildren.
